This a guest post by: She’s the Geek

Thank you She’s the Geek for sharing your experience with us.

Last week MadamGeek packed up her iPhone and gave She’s the Geek the opportunity to Review her Gadget for a few days. It truly was an amazing experience and every Geeky person’s dream come true.

The iPhone is the first of a new generation of phones: it’s a touchscreen smartphone running Apple’s OS X operating system. Instead of using buttons, joysticks, etc, the iPhone has icons that appear on the huge touch-sensitive screen. The screen is enormous, and the user interface is simply breathtaking.

When playing with the user interface you can begin to believe the hype. Touch the Phone icon on the screen and the address book appears; tap on a name and the iPhone makes a call. Touch the Photos icon and your photo album glides onto the screen.

Using the iPhone for me was simply an amazing experience; it was Love at first touch and hard to imagine ever going back to a normal phone.

The iPhone is an iPod too of course; you can download songs from iTunes on the move. 8 Gbytes is enough to store 2,000 songs. Other great features include the Safari web browser, Google Maps and built-in Wi-Fi support.

So, what to conclude about the iPhone? It’s clearly not just any phone, it’s a Revolutionary Phone and virtually a must have.

iPhone WordPress and the ‘Sell Outs’ April 7, 2010

I was just reminded by a friend that I am the last one in my group of geeky friends to still use the old fashioned blog. One by one over the past year they have all started getting their personal domains.

To name a few of them: marlonparker ; kingross ; reagenallen and the latest one brentsjourney . The only one allowed to have moved over to her own domain with no resentment from my part is my friend and sister blog: shesthegeek. I do tease the rest of them and say that they all are sell outs!

And of course we have had loads of discussions: when does a blog become a website? Is it still a blog once you move over to your personal domain that you have to pay for? Isn’t the whole idea of having your own blog that it is free and you don’t have to pay for it every month? It is easy to use and plug ins are easy as well as changing gravatars and avatars?

Well I seem to be the only person left believing that theory. I must admit though, my biggest reservation is that I do love blogging from my iPhone WordPress app and don’t want to loose that. I have not figured out how to use the WordPress app to load a domained blog (is this even a word?). You see that is the nice thing about having your own blog you can pretty much write whatever you like.

So are there any iPhone app gurus out there that can either create an app to use so that I can blog directly from my phone to my blog just the same like using the website or show me how to hack it? Here is a screen shot of the current apps on my iPhone and obviously my most frequented app: WordPress!

I do need to make time to write a post on which apps are most useful to have and those that are just plain friendly.

I’m still an iPhone gal… March 30, 2010

My husband, Marlon Parker just arrived back from Finland after being there for 3 weeks. He visited one of his favourite places: Nokia. It must be his 3rd or 4th visit already.

Marlon has been an avid Nokia supporter and user since long before I met him which was 10 years ago. He loves technology and all things that push the boundaries of how we use it.

He is also a very romantic husband and decided to surprise me with a Valentines Day gift: iPhone. I have longed to own one since January 2008. Yes, I remember the date. That was the first time I held one in my hand and fell in love with it. It was love at first touch! So now I have my very own iPhone that I absolutely love!

Ok, so back to the point of this blog post: Marlon IM’d me from Finland during his trip and said there is something he just had to get and he is toying with the idea. After he said what it was I immediately googled it and couldn’t believe that he was still toying with the idea of buying it? He hasn’t got himself a new phone in over 2 years. After a bit of back and forth chatting, the next day he says he bought himself a NOKIA N900! I was happy as I know he absolutely loved Nokia and didn’t really enjoy playing with my iPhone.

The minute he got off the plane I heard all the details about the NOKIA N900. I like listening to people passionate about their mobile devices and decided to do some research and hear what other people are saying about. I was not given a chance to touch, play or test the phone yet myself. It was demonstrated to me, but no touching it for myself. Maybe one day I will get to play with it?

I found this blog post and wanted to share it. I like to be objective about things and give every device the benefit of the doubt even if I don’t personally agree.

If you are an iPhone gal, don’t get offended as we know who wins hands down!
