This morning we had a good Mom3.0 Cafe Session at RLabs.

The women braved the weather. It was pouring down with rain and very cold, yet the women came from far and near not to miss out on the class.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as we had 3 new women joining the cafe session. Todays’ session was focused on Vlogging. 3 new YouTube videos were uploaded and the women created their own YouTube accounts.

A group decision was made to have cafe sessions weekly until graduation. The group is very excited and wanting to learn and experience everything about Social Media and Social Networks. Now we as facilitators need to stay up to date and keep trying out new social media tools.

Here are some pics of the session this morning and links to the videos.

We managed to persuade a man to test the gadget today. Clinton Liederman was brave enough to humour us by agreeing to be a guest on our video. Watch what he says about the Personal Alarm from Ila Dusk.

This is the fourth video in our Screaming Gadget series. We put one of our friends’ Shameez Liederman on the spot yesterday and asked her if she is brave enough to test this device. Watch the video to see her reaction.

This is the Personal Alarm from Ila Dusk based in the UK. It should be used in case of an emergency. Eg. When you are being attacked or you think someone is following and you are not feeling very safe. The screaming device will alert people around you that something is wrong and that you need some help. We haven’t tested it in a live attack yet. It is quite interesting to see how women react to this device when asked to test it. First the device screams on activation then the woman screams and laughs at the same time because of the high decibel screeching sound the device makes and maybe just pure shock!

More video’s will follow as we ask various individuals to test the device and tell us what they think and if it will help them.

After we showed you and ourselves how to arm and disarm the alarm, we interviewed our friend Mel and watch what she has to say about her experience.

Over the next couple of days we will have different women use the device and share with us their experiences.

Apparently the battery lasts up to 3 years. So you will need to get a new gadget after 3 years.

Today She’s the Geek received a gadget for women from Ila Dusk based in the UK. They are a security company and are promoting a Personal Alarm for Women. It looks like a mini cellphone or large keyring. You can attach it to your handbag and if someone tries to attack you, you pull the metal chain and the alarm goes off.

Well we opened the package and pulled the alarm. You have to watch the video to hear what sound the alarm makes!

To know how to disarm the alarm watch “Screaming Gadget…Part2.
